The Permanent Secretary, Maj. Gen. David-Kasura Kyomukama, concluded the Mindset Change Training for the Uganda Law Reform Commission on August 2, 2024.
In his closing remarks, he thanked the team for their discipline and encouraged them to be mindful of their diet to manage their weight. He highlighted that adults lack the enzymes to digest milk and should avoid it, suggesting honey as a sugar substitute and recommending a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. He advised against eating bread and recommended consuming at least one egg daily.
Maj. Gen. Kyomukama noted that Uganda faces an epidemic of non-communicable diseases, particularly those related to weight, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and prostate cancer. He emphasized that simple exercises, like walking, are effective for weight control.
He also urged participants to wake up, set goals, and adhere to them.
The training theme is “Mindset Change for a Healthy Energised and Productive Workforce” with a direct focus on the Uganda Law Reform Commission staff.
Training Objectives:
The training is based on the following objectives;
Objective 1: Mindset Shift
- By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Recognize and challenge limiting beliefs and negative self-talk
- Adopt a growth mindset, focusing on possibilities and opportunities Demonstrate an increase in positive self-talk and exhibit optimistic thinking.
Objective 2: Resilience and Stress Management By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Identify and manage stress triggers and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Practice self-care and prioritize activities promoting relaxation and joy.
- Embrace management initiatives to reduce stress levels and increase resilience.
Objective 3: Sustained Behavior Change
- By the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Develop and implement personalized action plans for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
- Commit to improving health.
