The National Farmers’ Leadership Centre (NFLC) is under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and it was an initiative from the President.
It was set up to lead in Mindset change and Agricultural Leadership training for community transformation.
The training targets farmers, civic and political leaders, extension workers and all other categories of development practitioners.
The Centre is governed by a Steering Committee, chaired by the Permanent Secretary, which provides an advisory role by offering guidance on NFLC policy and strategy, as well as supervising and supporting the Centre. The Steering Committee is accountable to the Minister responsible for Agriculture.
The Steering Committee oversees the development and approval of a Five-Year Strategic Plan that defines the Centre’s core mandate, programs, and strategic direction to ensure its sustainability. This Strategic Plan aligns the Centre’s activities with the Agriculture Sector Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries, the National Development Plan, and National Vision 2040.
The new NFLC Strategic Plan is currently being developed in alignment with NDP IV, as the existing NFLC Strategic Plan will conclude in the 2025/26 financial year.
